Parts that are hydroformed, extruded, bent, cast, stamped or welded can have the components installed in a secondary operation. The robot can place the part in the machine part nest or hold the part in location. The force required to set the component into the part can be provided by servo actuators, air / oil actuators or hydraulic cylinders.

The feeders are typically placed outside of the robotic cell feeding the components through UHMW chuting. The tooling includes component feed tracks or pick-and-place units to locate the component correctly prior to install. The component can be installed into the part from the top down, bottom up or cam action. The sensors and valves are typically wired to I/O blocks with the machine controlled by the robot cell PLC.
